PROJECT OVERVIEW

Purpose-Built for Public Transit Operations

MIRC Construction Services constructed the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority Administration and Maintenance Facility in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The federally assisted project combined administrative offices with a purpose-built bus maintenance facility designed to support MOVTA’s daily fleet operations.

The facility incorporates a pre-engineered metal maintenance structure with brick administrative areas, multiple bus service and maintenance bays, secured vehicle circulation areas, fueling infrastructure, and supporting site improvements.

PUBLIC TRANSIT OPERATIONS

A Purpose-Built Facility for Transit Operations

The facility was organized around the operational requirements of MOVTA’s transit fleet, bringing maintenance, service, vehicle storage, wash functions, fueling, and administrative support together on one secured site.

Seven service-bay openings provide direct access to the maintenance building, while the connected administrative wing supports the staff and management functions required to operate the transit system.

Completed in 2015, the facility created a centralized base for MOVTA’s fleet maintenance and day-to-day operations.

ADMINISTRATION + FLEET SUPPORT

Administration and Maintenance in One Facility

The MOVTA facility was designed to bring administrative functions and fleet operations together within a single purpose-built complex.

The brick administrative wing provides the public-facing and office portion of the facility, while the adjoining pre-engineered metal building supports bus maintenance, service, parking, and wash functions. The architectural drawings show the office component integrated directly with the long maintenance structure and its seven service-bay openings.

The completed site also incorporated secured vehicle areas, permanent identification signage, flagpoles, and supporting operational infrastructure, creating a centralized facility for both staff and transit fleet operations.

Fueling and Maintenance Infrastructure

FLEET OPERATIONS

The facility was built to support the daily demands of a public transit fleet, with dedicated maintenance, service, wash, and fueling functions incorporated into the overall site.

Project documents include a separate fuel-island canopy and related site improvements, confirming that fleet fueling was an integral part of the facility rather than a secondary add-on.

The secured service yard, maintenance-bay access, fencing, paving, utilities, and operational circulation were coordinated as part of a complete transit-support facility designed for long-term use.
